The Public Works Department consists of six departments who work together to maintain the City streets, vehicles, parks, buildings, utilities, sanitation service and assists community development in new construction.

The Parks Maintenance Department functions as the ground maintenance crew for all eight of our city parks. They also assist our Street Department in mowing our medians and right-of-ways. Parks Maintenance is responsible for assisting the Parks and Recreation Department in setup for all special events.

This department is in charge of all janitorial work done in the city buildings. In addition to their janitorial tasks; they repair roofs, doors, plumbing and most electrical work.

Fleet Maintenance services all city vehicles and equipment. They are also responsible for the purchasing of all oils, lubricants and fuel. The Fleet Department is also the central office for taking all calls and complaints for the Public Works Department.

Besides maintaining the streets and rural roads, the Street Department is also accountable for all traffic-control systems, street signs and other signs that are not located on State Highways. They routinely check the storm drains, drainage ditches, curbs, gutters and alleys. They mow all medians and right-of-ways.

The Water and Sewer Distribution Department is responsible for providing the maintenance and repair of all water and sewer lines within Yukon city limits as well as the main water transmission line running from NW 104th and Portland to Yukon. The various maintenance and repair jobs performed by this department include water meter reading, water meter installation and repair, water main and service line leak repairs, fire hydrant repair, valve and meter box repair, sewer main line repair, sewer main line blockage removal, CCTV (closed Circuit Television) inspections of both sanitary and storm water sewer mains, and Oklahoma One Call system (800) 522-6543 for water and sewer utility line locates. Personnel are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to respond to any emergency or non emergency call. Please contact us at 354-2769 for further service.

Our Sanitation Department provides service to all residents and commercial businesses. Repairs are made on the green polykarts, free of charge. The businesses that own white dumpsters are required to pay for their repairs. Customers can purchase an additional blue polykart for $100.00 through the utility billing office and it will be picked up weekly on their scheduled day. However, any owners that need repairs to the blue polykarts will be charged a fee that can be included on your water bill. Businesses that want to purchase a white, two-yard, trash container will cost them $400.00 each.

The Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority is the owner and operator of the Transfer Station. They allow Yukon residents to bring and dump large items that cannot be picked up curbside. Residents are allowed to dump free, once a month, with a current water bill and driver’s license.
