Lightning
Lightning is a beautiful, but deadly natural phenomenon that annually kills between 75 and 100 people nationwide. During thunderstorms, stay inside. If you are outdoors, an automobile is a safe place to be when lightning is present.

Disconnect electrical appliances such as televisions, radios, and computers; and keep away from conductors such as:
- Doors
- Windows
- Stoves
- Sinks
- Metal pipes
When outdoors, minimize your height but don’t lie flat. Do not take shelter under a tree and avoid standing in small sheds in open areas. Remember to stay away from metallic conductors like wire fences and overhead power lines.
