Mayor's Message

The city of Yukon is best described as a vibrant and secure community that is a great place to live, raise a family or retire. It is recognized as one of the fastest growing and most desirable places to live in Oklahoma.

Founded in 1891, the City has a rich heritage that is celebrated every year on the first Saturday in October, with the Yukon Czech Festival. There are several other festivals and events throughout the year, our 4th of July Celebration and Christmas in the Park are two must-see events.

The City has a rapidly expanding retail area located along the Garth Brooks exit off of I-40. This includes several national retail stores, as well as many great places to eat, and local stores which offer a variety of services or dining options.

The area is also home to Integris Canadian Valley, our local hospital. Opened in 2001, expanded in 2005 the hospital is now approximately 128,000 square feet and offers a 40 bed intensive care unit.

As the Mayor of Yukon I encourage the community to be “part of the process”. I believe “your opinion matters”. If you have issues, concerns or ideas for improvement come be part of the process the first and third Tuesday of every month at the regularly scheduled City Council meeting. Every meeting starts with a visitors section, this is your time to talk with me as Mayor or any of the Council personally as well as the City Manager Grayson Bottom. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and your input is welcome and encouraged.

Finally, as Mayor I challenge our City to become more active this year and in the years to come. We have walking trails at several parks, including the famous boot shaped trail located in Chisholm Trail Park just off Vandament. There are two running and walking events.  In August, the Spirit Walk is held and the Chill Your Cheeks Run is in November. These events are open to everyone.  Come run or walk with me this year at these events. Improve your health by becoming involved in community events, or by getting out and walking through and enjoying one of our ten (10) different parks located within the City limits.

Thank you for visiting the web page and your interest in Yukon. Come be part of a way of life in Yukon, be healthy, get fit, be involved and enjoy living.

Mayor
