WATER LEAKS

Customers who had a plumbing leak that resulted in a higher than average monthly bill may apply for a leak adjustment to their account. We will only adjust the highest monthly bill received, so we recommend that leaks be repaired as soon as possible. Leak application forms must be submitted within 90 days of the repair date. Adjustments are made after one, two or sometimes three billing cycles have been completed following the repair date and water consumption has returned to normal levels. You will be notified by mail when the adjustment is made and the amount credited to your account. We will also notify you if no adjustment is due. FAULTY METERS

Occasionally, an older water meter will become faulty resulting in erratic or unusually low or high bills for the customer. The City of Yukon will verify the meter’s condition and replace it only if necessary.  An adjustment to the customer’s bill may be possible after two to three billing cycles documenting lower monthly consumption have been completed on the new meter.

DISPUTING YOUR BILL

If you have questions about your monthly bill, please contact Utility Billing as soon as possible. We endeavor to provide customers with accurate bills and often complete service orders at addresses prior to billing so that potential problems can be discovered and resolved prior to the bill being mailed.   Pre-billing service orders usually relate to re-reading your meter, checking for a leak and testing your meter for accuracy. 

If you contact us, we will share any pre-billing service orders that may have been done at your address.  If you do not agree with our findings, you can request another re-read of your meter or a meter test.
